Help – Storing Your Links (Link Management)

Affiliate Link Management is just one of the many ways TubeItUp saves you time and improves your YouTube video SEO. If you do any kind of Affiliate Marketing. Link Management performs the following essential functions:

  1. Creates your personal master links database,
  2. Allows you to reuse links across multiple videos,
  3. Tracks link performance on a per-video basis,
  4. Allows you to use custom trackable links on other social platforms,
  5. Allows you to change the URL in TubeItUp without disturbing your YouTube description (or any other social media post that contains the link).

Link Management is a Premium Feature. If you would like to use this feature, you may need to upgrade.

Storing Your Links

All links essentially operate the same way in that all that is required is a Title (a name that allows you to remember what the link is), and a URL (where you want the user to be after clicking the link). You will also need to select a Link Type and decide if you want to use TBIU links in the video description (both topics discussed below). Once you press save, the link is on your list.

Selecting the Link Type

The following link types are available:

  • Product
  • Website
  • Video
  • Attribution
  • Note

The Link Type setting is used to arrange the links when they are placed into your Project Description. Attributions and Notes have additional features discussed below.

Notes

Notes are different in that they will only place the Title and the Text into the description.  There is no URL associated with a Note.

Attributions

Attributions are the combination of a Note and Link. When you select an Attribution Link Type, you will provide the Title, URL and a Note. These can be used in a variety of ways including music and other videos. The Title, Link and Note are all added to the description.

Choosing to use TBIU Links

Using TBIU links (e.g. https://tbiu.io/sUp16r27) allow you to maintain statistics about which video generated the click, and when the link was clicked. If you don’t wish to use the TBIU link, you can uncheck the box, which will cause it to remain as the normal link.

You can globally override TBIU links for Amazon and YouTube links in the settings (discussed below).

Video Specific Links

When your ready to add links to a Project, click the ‘Video Links’ button in the Project space. This will take you to the Link Management space in the context of which links are associated with that particular project.

You notice that the Project is named at the top of the screen, and a link to take you back to the project.

You have the choice to view by All Links or only Links in this video.Links selected for this video will be checked and highlighted green.

Opt-in Settings for Amazon and YouTube

In certain cases you may not want to use TBIU links for Amazon and YouTube links. For this reason we require you to opt-in to the use of TBIU links for these two link types. The reasoning is discussed in detail below.

To opt-in to the use of TBIU links for Amazon and YouTube, you’ll need to go to your account settings page.

TubeItUp Configuration Settings

Amazon Links

Our interpretation of the Amazon affiliate program terms and conditions forbids the use of any short-link other than those provided by Amazon directly. For this reason, we require you to opt-in to the use of TBIU links. If you do not opt-in any URL that is https://amazon.com or https://amzn.to will NOT be converted to a TBIU link regardless of how the individual link is set.

YouTube Links

If you are linking to other YouTube videos, the YouTube algorithm may penalize you if you send viewers off of YouTube by using a TBIU link. We have no knowledge if this is true or not, but why take the risk. For this reason, we require you to opt-in to the use of TBIU links. If you do not opt-in, any URL that is https://youtube.com or https://youtu.be will NOT be converted to a TBIU link regardless of how the individual link is set.
